According to the musician, The Lockdown Sessions took shape unexpectedly for him. When the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour was interrupted due to the pandemic and the artist was in self-isolation, he began to participate as a guest vocalist on tracks by various musicians. So, for example, the song Pink Phantom appeared at the request of Damon Albarn and was included in the Gorillaz Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez, One of Me was recently published on the debut disc Lil Nas X, and Nothing Else Matters was created as a group homage to Metallica. , celebrating the anniversary of her "black" album, and was featured on the cover collection The Metallica Blacklist. At first, the Chosen Family existed only in the solo performance of Rina Sawayama, and after the composition won international recognition, Sir Elton decided to make a duet with a rising star (for this, according to him, Rina had to spend two weeks in quarantine).
As a result, so much material has accumulated that it became clear: a full-fledged album is being obtained.
